Where to Wear the Pump | What is important to remember
Summer, heat, a short skirt, a thin T-shirt and … a pump! A survey of familiar girls with pumps showed that there are a lot of places where to hang the pump:
- on a belt in a case (on a skirt or pants on top);
- on the bra screen forward or to the body;
- in a bra;
- a garter on the leg (a garter with a pocket is sold in the store);
- sew a handmade garter and decorate it with an elastic band for stockings;
- on a special pectoral girdle;
- in your pocket;
Girls have such good imaginations!
The problem of wearing a pump is related to the fact that people with diabetes can be self-conscious. People around us know very little about diabetes. Often in our society, people are intolerant of those who are different from the rest. Therefore, we strive to hide the pump, in order to avoid conversations and explanations, not to mention sidelong glances.
What is important to remember
- We have diabetes, but we are still strong.
- It’s difficult to be different from others, but still interesting.
- Sometimes it is necessary to take on the “mission” of educating others.
- You can come up with a short answer (with humor, for example) to the usual questions about pumps and other devices.
- Find a reason to rejoice: the situation of finding a convenient place to wear a pump develops your imagination, and this prolongs the healthy functioning of the brain.
- If the situation where the pump is visible and people ask questions too often, it is difficult or embarrassing you, is unbearable, consult a psychologist specializing in diabetes psychology. It will help you deal with embarrassment and solve psychological difficulties.
- Those who have been wearing pumps for a long time have realized that it is comfortable and can even be proud of their device.
