Smart Things for Diabetics

Israeli scientists from the “GlucoVista” company also did not stand aside, creating a “smart” bracelet. No, this is not a decoration, but a sensor device that allows you to analyze blood glucose levels without painful and unpleasant puncturing of the skin several times a day. The invention is currently undergoing clinical trials in various clinics in Israel.

The new blood glucose meter measures blood sugar without compromising the integrity of the skin. The results obtained are transmitted to a smartphone or tablet computer, which makes it possible to warn the patient and the doctor in time about a life-threatening situation.

The new blood glucose meter measures blood sugar without compromising the integrity of the skin.

This kind of invention has turned out to be very timely today, due to the scale of the spread of diabetes mellitus around the world. In Israel alone, there are more than 500,000 patients, most of whom are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This disease requires a constant blood sugar control regime throughout the day, which means that patients with such a diagnosis have to perform an unpleasant procedure up to 15 times a day. All this is a vital necessity, since any change in blood sugar levels can lead to the development of dangerous conditions and damage to internal organs.

Patients with such a diagnosis have to  pierce their skin up to 15 times a day.

The sensor is made in the form of a bracelet to be worn on the wrist. The device registers the infrared rays that are emitted by the glucose contained in the blood, processes the information received and calculates the blood glucose level. If the results are abnormal, a warning is sent. This bracelet can be used by patients of both the 1st and 2nd type of diabetes.

To date, the Israeli start-up has to be further refined. The device is now undergoing clinical trials in Israeli clinics. If the tests are successful, the new blood glucose meter will radically change the lives of millions of diabetics, because they no longer have to pierce their skin, and the process of monitoring blood sugar levels will become much easier.
