Features of drinking coffee with diabetes

Before drinking coffee, attention is paid to the products added to this drink:

  • with insulin-resistant diabetes, drinking coffee with added sugar or honey is not recommended, artificial sweeteners are used to make the drink sweeter,
  • diabetics with angiopathic complications and chronically overweight should drink coffee with cream carefully, due to their caloric content and high content of saturated triglycerides,
  • coffee with milk can be drunk for all diabetics, with the exception of patients who are lactose intolerant,
  • adding cinnamon to coffee – normalizes glycemic indices in both types of diabetes.

The duration of the coffee is up to 8 hours. It is preferable to drink coffee in the morning and not on an empty stomach.


What type of coffee is good for diabetics?

It is possible to reduce harmfulness to the body and preserve the beneficial properties of this energy source with a unique taste, but provided that the type of drink is correctly selected.


Unfiltered coffee beans brewed

It is allowed for diabetics with a stable glucose level and not burdened with complications of the cardiovascular system. Coffee contains a diterpene compound and the level of its concentration is due to the preparation time of the drink.


Filtered coffee

Contains a small amount of cafestol. The use of such a drink is advisable for diabetes, weighed down by hypercholesterolemia, without the presence of angiopathic and cardiovascular complications.


Green coffee from non-roasted beans

It is useful for losing weight and maintaining a beautiful figure, reduces glucose levels in diabetics. The taste of a drink made from non-fried grains differs significantly from the traditional one. As a medicine – no more than 100 grams per day is taken.


Caffeine Free Drink

Most useful for patients with type 2 diabetes. If you drink one cup of such coffee per day, the likelihood of developing uncontrolled diabetes is reduced by 7 percent.


When is coffee contraindicated?

Contraindications to the use of the drink are due to factors such as:

  • heart disease, especially with a high heart rate,
  • poorly adapted to drugs hypertension,
  • pregnancy
  • gestational diabetes
  • renal disease
  • bone tissue dystrophy.

Natural coffee or a decaffeinated drink in the amount of one cup per day will not worsen the health of a diabetic. The main thing is to eliminate the abuse of such a product.
